CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS
About this product
Frames are the whole business here, so a pistol whose frame is not the serialized part deserves a close look. CZ built the DUTY 4.0 around a serialized internal chassis, leaving the fiberglass-reinforced polymer grip frame as a modular component. It is a striker-fired 9x19mm sold as the C compact or the F full-size, with MS versions of each adding a manual thumb safety to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety.
For a customer who wants a factory gun beside the frame kits, the rest of the sheet is straightforward. The barrel is 4 inches and unthreaded, the sights are fixed, and the slide is cut for a direct-mount optic; CZ's photos show Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots in place. The refined SFDA trigger is rated at 25±4 N with a 9±1 mm travel and 4 mm reset. The C holds 15+1 and the F 17+1, both taking two more with the extended base plate. List price from CZ is $729.
Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a serial-numbered modular chassis: the serial-numbered part is inside, the frame module around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 0.16 in (4 mm) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a reflex sight sits low without a stack of plates.
Compact means 15+1 rounds in a frame 5.3 in (135 mm) high. Fit the longer base plate and it holds 17+1. At 27.2 oz (770 g) unloaded it sits between a pocket pistol and a full-size gun, which is exactly where a carry-and-nightstand 9mm belongs.
MS stands for external safety. This model adds a thumb safety lever to the automatic safeties every DUTY has: the firing pin block, the trigger safety and the drawbar safety. Agencies and buyers who want a positive on/off control choose this version; the trigger itself is unchanged.
The CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS suits anyone who wants a modern optics-ready 9mm with CZ's grip and a trigger that is better than the class average: concealed carry where your state allows it, home defense, and range time that does not need a full-size grip.
Because the chassis carries a serial number, this one does not ship to your house the way a frame kit does. Give us your FFL dealer at checkout, and the pistol goes to them with tracking. The dealer completes the paperwork and applies your state's rules at pickup, so pick a dealer who takes transfers and ask about their process before you order.

Frequently asked questions
- Which part of the DUTY 4.0 is the firearm?
- The internal chassis carries the serial number, which is why the polymer grip frame around it can be modular.
- Does it use the same slides as the frames you sell?
- No. Our frame kits name the Gen 3 slides they fit, and the DUTY 4.0 is a complete CZ pistol with its own slide and barrel already fitted.
- What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS?
- Manual safety. It adds a thumb lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety that every DUTY has.
- Does the manual safety change the trigger?
- No. CZ rates the trigger the same on both versions: 5.6 pounds with a 4 mm reset.
